The Memphis Dream Center exists to serve people, develop leaders, and impact generations. Our goal is to meet the emotional, spiritual, educational and physical needs of individuals in our city. The efforts of the Dream Center are focused not only on addressing the symptoms of poverty, but also on meeting the needs of individuals with the goal of restoring their hopes and dreams, and bringing wholeness to their life.
To that end, we are impacting three of the City of Memphis’ greatest challenges: Food Insecurity, Educational Inequity and Infant Mortality. Each week we provide food resources to over 4,000 individuals through the Feed Memphis and Generous House programs, providing over 2,000,000 meals since the launch of these programs in 2011. Through our relationship with eight Title 1 Shelby County Schools, we provide support for the children and families through weekly visits, tutoring, and special events.
The MDC Youth Leadership program, our after-school Literacy and Leadership program, has seen over 85% of its students advance significantly in reading proficiency. The parents and teachers of these students are reporting that they are improving in behavior and leadership at school and at home.
The MDC Wellness Center offers maternity care, delivery at a local hospital, and follow up care and has seen over 300 healthy births since opening in 2016.
Pastor John & Leslie Siebeling
Pastor John and Leslie Siebeling are the founding and lead pastors of The Life Church based in Memphis, Tennessee. A few years ago, while reading through some statistics about Memphis, God began to move in their hearts. Unfortunately, Memphis ranks at the top of many lists that you don’t want to be on - poverty, crime, bankruptcy - and is sadly the infant mortality capital of the United States. At the time, the zip code 38108 had more infant deaths than some third-world countries. Although they didn’t know how to fix the problem, Pastor John and Leslie felt stirred to dig in and figure out a way to help. As they began to learn more and reach out to the community, several ministries were birthed and have developed into the Memphis Dream Center. The vision of The Life Church is really the heart of our pastors and the goal of the Memphis Dream Center: to serve people, develop leaders and impact generations.
Dr. Joe & Kelli Carson
Dr. Joe and Kelli Carson came to the Memphis Dream Center after feeling that God was calling them to come alongside the under-resourced of the city. After founding and developing a nationally recognized dental practice in the Memphis area, they sold their practice and dove into serving our city. They have an incredible heart to serve and view all of the outreach efforts as a practical demonstration of the love of Christ to the marginalized, disadvantaged and discouraged. They feel blessed to watch all that God has been able to do through those who serve alongside them at the Memphis Dream Center.
Each week an army of diverse volunteers come alongside our friends and neighbors to provide encouragement and love through practical and tangible resources and events. We believe that God has placed in man a desire to be a part of something bigger than himself. As we work side by side to serve others, we experience the fulfillment of giving of ourselves and share in the joy of seeing lives forever changed. We love our Memphis Dream Center volunteers!
